Less than a month after taking office, the Bolojan government faces its first motion of no confidence

The opposition parties AUR, SOS, and POT are trying to block the austerity measures taken by the executive to reduce the budget deficit, measures which, in the opinion of the motion's initiators, would only bring austerity to ordinary people.
However, in order to be adopted, the motion would need at least 102 votes from the coalition, an almost impossible task, given that the ruling party's strategy is for its MPs to ensure the quorum but not to participate in the vote.
According to the government's calculations, the first fiscal package would bring in around 10 billion lei to the budget this year, an amount insufficient to balance the state's finances, so the executive would again have to take responsibility before parliament for the second package of measures by the end of this month.
This will be another opportunity for the opposition to table another motion of no confidence.
Reporter: The prime minister said a few days ago that he would not stop there, because two more packages of measures are in the works, packages that will be presented at the end of this month. One important package concerns the reform of commercial companies in which the state is the majority shareholder, the prime minister said, also specifying what objectives he is pursuing.
Ilie Bolojan: We will ensure transparency in the management of all state-owned companies by publishing all data related to management and indicators. We will initiate changes to performance indicators, because all management teams operate on the basis of management contracts, some of which are based on performance indicators that are, unfortunately, often formal. We will amend the legislation.
In addition to the healthcare system, the government also intends to reform public administration, so this week, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and other cabinet ministers will meet with local authority representatives to ensure that the proposed measures are only implemented after discussions with them.
