A protest took place in the center of Bacau, with several dozen students expressing their dissatisfaction with the government's decision to cut funds for school scholarships.
They say that scholarships play an essential role in ensuring equal access to education, and that many young people need this money to support their personal and educational development.
The students point out that a study commissioned by the Ministry of Education showed that school scholarships contribute significantly to reducing absenteeism and school dropout rates.
The vast majority of children feel that they have been encouraged to learn better, and more than three-quarters of teachers and principals have noticed better attendance in class, especially in rural areas, according to RRA correspondent Gabriel Pop.
