A new challenge to the Constitutional Court by President Dan

According to the amendment challenged by the president, the unauthorized practice of the profession of rabbi, imam, or other clerical or monastic functions would be punishable at the request of religious denominations.
However, the head of state considers that this would violate constitutional norms and principles.
The legislative amendment was also proposed by MP Silviu Wexler, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania, who also initiated the bill to combat anti-Semitism and ban Legionary organizations.
This legislative act was also challenged by President Nicusor Dan before the CC, but his complaint was unanimously rejected by the constitutional judges.
The head of state announced that he would not withdraw his objections and said he would send the law back to Parliament for clarification of the text.
Nicusor Dan believes that the law contains provisions that leave room for interpretation and would increase tension between social groups.
