The National Bank had a profit of almost 4 billion lei last year

The National Bank recorded a profit of over 3.84 billion lei last year, 58% higher than the previous year, according to the Central Bank's annual report published on Monday, June 23.

Operating expenses last year were approximately 13% below budget, and their share of total operating expenses fell to 8% in 2024, from 11% in 2023.

The report also notes that the liquidity surplus in the money market continued to grow in the first part of last year but subsequently narrowed, more markedly in the fourth quarter.

This development led to significant interest expense, the NBR report also notes.
