Reactions of the parties to the draft state budget adopted by the Government

USR representatives say that they would have had amendments, but decided not to submit them, because the assumed deficit target would have been affected, and they consider that the draft budget is the best form that could have been built.
The Liberals support the form of the budget adopted by the government, which they consider balanced and designed according to the possibilities that Romania currently has.
"I believe that any amendment should be discussed in the coalition, as stipulated in the coalition protocol, by the way. Since the budget passed the government in this form, it seems a bit strange to talk about such amendments, which obviously have a very strong impact on this budget. So, if it is considered necessary to discuss it in the coalition, and I think this approach would be desirable, it would be healthier. If we end up discussing amendments in parliament, voting on them, together with other supporters, I don't think it is good for us", said Mircea Abrudean, President of the Senate.
In opposition, the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians presented its own version of the budget, as an alternative to the document proposed by the government, which the AUR parliamentarians announced that they would reject.
The leader of the party's senators, Petrisor Peiu, explained the main arguments.
"First of all, ignoring the developments that occurred after January 1, 2026, namely the major recession with a contraction of 1.9% in the fourth quarter of last year, the second issue that is not taken into account is the inflationary crisis caused by the increase in international prices of crude oil, natural gas, and chemical fertilizers", said Petrisor Peiu.
