Security risks and threats to internal order have led many Schengen countries to temporarily reintroduce border controls.
Illegal migration and the dangers of sabotage are among the causes mentioned by countries such as Spain, Italy, and Austria.
The Romanian government will also establish, at its meeting on Thursday, the national mechanism for the decision to temporarily reintroduce border controls.
Andrei Serban tells us what other decisions are on the agenda of today's Executive meeting:
Reduction of excise duty on diesel used in agriculture
Reporter: In order to reduce the excise duty on diesel used in agriculture, the government will increase the amount of money allocated this year to the state aid scheme for over 15.000 farmers.
Taking into account the average price of diesel, the support provided through the state aid scheme for diesel used in agriculture for the first quarter of this year, amounting to 2.213 lei per liter, represents about 30% of the price of diesel reimbursed to farmers.
Clear conditions and responsibilities for the reintroduction of internal Schengen border controls
Also on the agenda is a draft government decision establishing clear conditions and responsibilities for the reintroduction of internal Schengen border controls.
The regulation governing this area of free movement provides for the possibility for Schengen member countries to reintroduce internal border controls under certain conditions, for example, if there are serious threats to public order and internal security.
Also on Thursday, the executive wants to adopt several decisions on the initiation of expropriation procedures for all privately owned properties in the area where the Sibiu-Pitesti motorway and the Craiova-Pitesti expressway are being built.
