The Senate has approved a bill proposing the establishment of the National Platform for Public Digital Infrastructure. It is a single, integrated system that will bring together all the digital resources used by public entities in Romania.
Reporter: Alexandra Cristea - "Currently, the public digital infrastructure is fragmented, managed in a non-unitary manner and lacking a national mechanism for evidence and supervision - states in the explanatory memorandum the initiator of the legislative proposal, USR senator Ciprian Rus. He says that the law brings a fundamental reform for a modern, secure and efficient administration, the national platform of the public digital infrastructure being a necessity.
Ciprian Rus: This law proposes something sober and necessary: the digital inventory of the state, through which the National Platform of the Public Digital Infrastructure has clear registers, based on metadata. We will know what exists, who it belongs to, what is the purpose of the respective application, who is responsible for it. We are not just talking about content, we are not talking about traffic, we are not collecting personal data and we are not touching classified information. Plus, the law does not create new functions, it does not require new organizational charts.
The document now goes to the Chamber of Deputies for the decisional vote."
