Nearly 5.300 cases of child abuse, neglect and exploitation

Almost 5.300 cases of child abuse, neglect and exploitation were recorded in the first quarter of this year.
The National Authority for the Protection of Children's Rights and Adoption shows that the difference between rural and urban areas is around 600 cases.
Most cases involved neglect - almost 3.500.
In the first three months of the year, around 2.100 cases of neglect were closed and in 37 cases prosecution of those responsible was initiated.
There were also hundreds of cases of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as exploitation through labor, sexual exploitation and for committing crimes.
Last year, the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection ordered emergency placement for almost 800 children, and 62 children were placed in emergency care by the court.
