"Mihail Kogalniceanu" International Airport has officially inaugurated the new passenger terminal on Tuesday, which will be able to handle between 400 and 600 passengers per hour.
It is an investment of 65 million euros, which is part of the extensive modernization projects of the Constanta airport, carried out over the past three and a half years.
However, the problem of attracting commercial flights remains, currently the only scheduled flights operated from here being to London and Istanbul.
Bogdan Artagea, general manager of Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport: It's a new beginning, we have a new, functional terminal, which, if it's not full, we built it for nothing, so we will have to have a common interest together with the County Council, with the county mayors, in order to develop air traffic at Constanta airport. We have new destinations, Rome, hopefully Milan by the end of the year, but it's not enough, it's very little for the potential of this airport and, of course, for the potential of Constanta. So, let's all help develop traffic at this airport. This is about tourism, the county and the money that will stay here.
