Nicusor Dan: I rule out the early elections option

While in Bucharest, the government parties exchanged several lines during the debates in Parliament regarding the state budget, President Nicusor Dan, who was in Brussels, declared that he prefers to "look at the glass half full", namely that the budget has entered the last hundred meters before adoption.
Nicusor Dan: First of all, we are in a better situation now than we were this morning (with the budget, ed.). We always have to look at the glass half full. The support for the Prime Minister - obviously, the President is the one who appoints him - but the support is given by the parliamentary majority. I hope that this parliamentary majority will continue for a long time from now on, but we will see.
Asked what he thinks about the early elections scenario, invoked by PSD President Sorin Grindeanu, President Dan mentioned the need for political stability.
Nicusor Dan: Yes, I rule it out. Of course, theoretically a lot can happen, but given the context we are going through, it is the last thing to think about, during a long period of instability.
The President appreciated that despite the “public noise”, the government managed to pass important laws, such as the so-called “Little Train” ordinance, the local administration law or, more recently, the state budget law. Even if sometimes the political negotiations took “more time than we would have liked”, he added, in the end a consensus was reached. “Romania is progressing”, concluded President Nicusor Dan.
