The executive says it will set the timetable for this year's presidential elections next week, which will be adopted by a government decision.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said that the coalition leaders will decide which of the two dates, September 15 or September 29, will be chosen for the first round of the elections.

Marcel Ciolacu: Following the decisions taken in the governing coalition, I ask the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Catalin Predoiu, to prepare the draft government decision on the presidential elections. Next week we will decide on which of the two dates, September 15 or September 29, the first round will take place. I remind all colleagues that next week, as we have undertaken, we have to close this process.

The legal deadline by which the Government can change the date of the Cotroceni poll expires at the beginning of next month.
