The judges and prosecutors sections of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) decided on Monday to convene the General Assemblies of Judges and Prosecutors to discuss the firm request addressed to political actors to respect the stability of the status of judges and prosecutors. CSM states in a press release that the decision was taken in view of the recurrent public debate on essential aspects of the status of judges and prosecutors, while ignoring the real problems of the judicial system.
CSM points out that the measures proposed in the government's program will only serve to destabilize the public service of justice.
CSM states that, insofar as the aim is to make real savings in the state budget, and not just to adopt measures that have an impact in the media but no substance, it proposes economic solutions such as the abolition of certain courts and public prosecutor's offices, the standardization of exclusively electronic communication, at least in relations with public institutions, and an increase in stamp duties.
Another solution proposed by CSM is the adoption of effective measures to recover damages resulting from crimes, notes RRA editor Diana Surdu.
