Trade unions ask President Nicusor Dan to mediate a possible social conflict

All trade union confederations are calling for an emergency meeting on Monday between their leaders and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, accusing the authorities of failing to consult them on measures that would reduce public sector salaries. Unions from all sectors are also asking President Nicusor Dan to mediate this social conflict that is about to erupt and are even threatening a nationwide general strike.

Some union members took to the streets on Friday, others protested on Monday across the country, and Cartel ALFA has announced a large rally in front of parliament, probably on July 15, if the measures are adopted in their current form.
