Tanczos Barna: IMF not asking Romania for tax hikes or austerity measures

The International Monetary Fund is not asking Romania for tax hikes or austerity measures, Finance Minister Tanczos Barna announced after meeting on Thursday with the new IMF mission chief in Romania, Joong Shik Kang.
He pointed out in a post on social media that the international experts are in Bucharest for an informal meeting.
The minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to reduce the budget deficit and create a leaner state over the next 7 years, increasing allocations for investments that support the economy.
