Supreme Council of National Defense to meet on Thursday

The Supreme Council of National Defense will meet on Thursday under the leadership of President Nicusor Dan, to discuss mainly the security of the national airspace.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the objectives that require protective measures against the threats posed by unmanned aircraft systems will be established.
At the same time, the persons who have the right to order and approve the execution of measures against drones and other aerial vehicles that enter the country’s airspace without authorization will also be established.
In May, Parliament adopted a law that, in theory, allows the army to shoot down unmanned aircraft that illegally enter the national airspace. However, so far, the rules and procedures that put in place the chain of command in such situations have not been finalized.
