Acting President of the country, Ilie Bolojan, explained after the Supreme Council for National Defence meeting how Romania will access the credit made available by the European Commission for additional defence equipment.
Ilie Bolojan: A working group has been set up which will be chaired by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and supported by representatives of the Ministries of Defence and Economy, which will prepare Romania's application for access to this credit. It is an advantageous loan, which will have a repayment period of over 40 years and a grace period of ten years. In this way, Romania can improve its military capabilities in the coming years without having to put a great strain on the national budget.
Investments in defence capabilities will be made through orders to public and private companies in Romanian industry, Ilie Bolojan added.
