Romania has absorbed about 5.8 billion euros from European funds and thus falls into the European average of 20 percent, Romanian Minister of Health, Rovana Plumb, announced recently in a press conference.

Bucharest ranks 18th in the EU in this chapter, same as Bulgaria, Hungary and Belgium, which drew about 19 percent of the allocated money.

The opposite is Finland, with 44 percent, followed by Austria, Luxembourg and Ireland. Minister Plumb said that most of the money is for transport infrastructure projects.

Rovana Plumb: Transport infrastructure, modernization projects for 400 km of railways, new roads of 325 km and new underground lines of 9 km. By allocating this European money, average travel time will decrease by 42% on roads and by 55% on rail.
