Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said that, on Friday, he would provide an institutional response related to participation in the parliamentary debate, but he specified that topics related to national security must be removed from the area of ​​political battles.

In a televised intervention, the head of the executive said that the reduction of American troops in Europe, including in Romania, is a decision of the United States Army and explained why Romania postponed the announcement of this withdrawal for two days.

Ilie Bolojan: This decision was announced in general that there would be a reduction of these troops in Europe, without specifying exactly where, what and how. On Monday, we were basically notified by the military attache at the embassy in Washington, who was invited to the Pentagon and was announced. Also, our ambassador to NATO was informed about these things by the American ambassador.

We were informed practically two days in advance, because it was considered that when the House of Representatives committees on defense were to be briefed on Wednesday, there was a possibility that this information would leak out. And then, the Ministry of Defense prepared a press conference for Wednesday, in order to announce these things.
