RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - More and more cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Romania recently, and doctors warn that the trend is increasing. This is the result of the "relaxation" from the holidays. People no longer respected the rules of physical distancing and hygiene. In Giurgiu County, at the County Emergency Hospital, an average of 10 cases are diagnosed per day, and infectious disease doctors still recommend wearing a protective mask in crowded areas, washing hands or isolating people with respiratory symptoms.

Reporter: Marcela Petcu: "In this period, more and more people are diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, says Sabina Suhan, specialist in infectious diseases at the Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital.

Sabina Suhan: "Every day we see between five and 10 cases of people with SARS-CoV-2 infection. The forms of the disease that we have encountered so far are mild, but there can also be patients with severe forms of the disease, and here we are talking especially about the vulnerable, such as the elderly, very young children and people with chronic diseases."

Doctors say that people have relaxed about keeping distance and in addition it was also the vacation period, that's why they come with recommendations to avoid new illnesses.

Sabina Suhan: "It is recommended to wear a mask in crowded spaces, but also to limit contact with sick people. Those with mild forms of the disease should self-isolate at home and undergo symptomatic treatment. We also remind you about the flu vaccination, because the cold season is coming."

Doctors warn that the rate of COVID-19 illnesses could increase with the start of the new school year."
