The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has so far registered 385 requests for assistance in the conflict zone between Israel and Iran. The Secretary of State for European Affairs, the Middle East, and Africa, Clara Staicu, said that representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are in constant contact with diplomatic missions in the affected states, as well as with local authorities, in order to identify safe evacuation options.
They are also coordinating with the missions of other European and allied states that have citizens in similar situations. At the same time, Ministry representatives strongly recommend that Romanian citizens avoid any travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Israel.
Clara Staicu: The Romanian Embassy in Tehran has identified 40 people, of whom four tourists left the country on June 14 and another three on June 16. Thirty-three people remain on the mission's watch list. In Tel Aviv and Ramallah, we have approximately 200 people. Fifty-two people from a group of pilgrims left Israel on June 14 for Egypt. Also, a group of 28 pilgrims crossed into Egypt today and are expected to arrive in Sharm el-Sheikh. We are also monitoring a group of 39 pilgrims in Bethlehem, who are receiving support from our mission in Ramallah. From a consular perspective, the optimal routes for the repatriation of this group are currently being assessed. The General Consulate in Haifa is monitoring 87 people who have reported their presence. Evacuation options to Romania are also being assessed.
The national airline Tarom has announced that it is extending the temporary suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv, Beirut, and Amman, given the tense situation in the region.
The company is closely monitoring developments in collaboration with international authorities and local partners.
