The government is considering two options for promoting administrative reform and the economic recovery package: an emergency ordinance or a vote of confidence in parliament. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan recently stated that he prefers the emergency ordinance solution, as the projects would come into force more quickly. The head of the executive is expected to make a decision on this matter early this week.
Reporter: Petruta Obrejan - "While public administration reform is seen as essential for long-term budgetary balance and for accessing European funds, economic recovery measures are perceived as necessary to offset austerity policies.
At last week's coalition meeting, the idea of adopting the two bills separately was also discussed, but it was rejected by the UDMR and especially by the Social Democrats, the latter saying that economic recovery measures are absolutely necessary because austerity packages have significantly reduced consumption, diminished the purchasing power of the population, and slowed economic growth.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan recently spoke of the simultaneous adoption of the two bills, but the coalition partners must decide as soon as possible in what form the two bills will be promoted - either as an emergency ordinance or the executive will take responsibility in parliament.
Ilie Bolojan: The fastest option is an emergency ordinance, because it comes into force immediately - of course, with the risks of debate in parliament and subsequent amendments. If the constitutional issues are resolved, it would be an option for immediate entry into force.
The new education minister could also be decided this week. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said that several options are being considered and, after the analyses are completed, he will discuss them with the Liberal leadership and submit the proposal.
