The local public administration reform could be finalized by the end of this week, announced the leader of the USR senators, Ştefan Palarie. He specified that the proposals developed within a working group will be transmitted to the coalition leaders, in order to reach a consensus, in particular, on the reduction of the number of positions at local administration level.
However, the measure is contested by numerous mayors, who claim that some city halls can finance themselves and do not depend on government support.
We learn from RRA correspondent Marcela Petcu the situation in Giurgiu County: "In Joita, a commune that is self-financing, Mayor Alexandru Paun finds staff cuts Inexplicable.
Alexandru Paun: Why cut if we, as an institution, want to develop the commune? It seems to me that if we cut from us and other poorer communes, somehow we all end up at the same level.
The mayor of Bolintin Vale, Daniel Traistaru, claims that he does not know where he will cut jobs, given that the institution's organizational chart is undersized.
Daniel Traistaru: Currently, out of a total of 99 employees that we have in the organizational chart, there are 46 employees of the city hall. There will probably be an evaluation and, following it, people will stay or leave.
In Giurgiu, according to the first estimates made by the government, over 190 public administration positions, or more precisely 11% of the total number of occupied positions should be cut.”
