Calin Georgescu placed under judicial control

The former presidential candidate, Calin Georgescu, was placed under judicial control, after being heard for several hours at the General Prosecutor's Office, where he was brought from the traffic by law enforcement officers, according to judicial sources.

Calin Georgescu is a defendant and is charged with six offenses, some of them in continuous form.

The charges are as follows: instigation to actions against the constitutional order, communication of false information, false statements regarding the sources of electoral campaign financing and declarations of assets, initiating or setting up an organization of a fascist, racist or xenophobic character, and of an anti-Semitic nature and joining or supporting in any form such a group, as well as promoting in public the cult of persons guilty of committing crimes of genocide against humanity and war crimes and promoting in public fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic ideas, concepts or doctrines.

When he entered the Prosecutor's Office, Calin Georgescu did not make any statement and walked in on two crutches.

On Wednesday, after dozens of searches, police officers and prosecutors seized machine guns, pistols, ammunition and millions of euros in cash found at the homes of mercenary Horatiu Potra, the head of Calin Georgescu's security team.
