The interim mayor of the capital, Stelian Bujduveanu, has canceled the approval for the protest planned for Tuesday in Bucharest by the New Right Association and the S.O.S. Romania Party.
"The capital will not become a scene of radicalism" - said the mayor, according to a statement sent by the capital's city hall.
The municipality's initial decision to approve the protest sparked numerous criticisms, given the xenophobic and racist speech of the two organizers.
The mayor explained on Monday that initially, the documentation submitted by the organizers indicated a theme related to the debate on the migrant inclusion strategy, a document that has already been withdrawn from public consultation.
Later, however, the organizers promoted explicitly anti-immigrant messages in public space, inciting hatred and discrimination.
