Arafat calls for stronger measures against false news and misinformation

The head of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), Raed Arafat, considers that stronger measures are needed against false news and misinformation in public space.

Although there has been an acceleration in the pace of vaccination recently, with Romania approaching 6 million people with at least one dose administered, the head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat, points out that stronger measures are needed against false news and misinformation in the public sphere:

Raed Arafat: I, with all the right to free speech, would cut off the microphone of everyone who comes and misinforms and tells people not to get vaccinated, I would simply let the people who are good in this field explain why vaccination is good. We went through a difficult period, a period full of misinformation to convince people not to respect and not to trust what the authorities say. I think we're at the point where we need to do the opposite now. At least for two, three months, at least during the debates, let's inform the public correctly, with scientifically true facts and to let's explain why it is better to get vaccinated and what can happen to you and your family if you remain unvaccinated.
