The Constitutional Court validated the result of the May 4 elections

The electoral campaign for the second round of the presidential elections can officially begin. Judges at the Constitutional Court validated, after less than an hour of debate, the results of the May 4 elections and rejected the request to annul the first round.
In a short, 30-minute session, the Constitutional Court judges unanimously rejected as unfounded the request for annulment of the elections for the office of President of Romania made by the candidate of the New Romania Party, Sebastian Popescu.
Also by unanimous vote, the constitutional magistrates confirmed and validated the results of the first round of elections held on May 4 and decided to organize the second round of elections for the election of the President of Romania on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in which George Simion and Nicusor Dan will participate.
The decisions of the Constitutional Court are final and generally binding, they will be published in the Official Gazette and the electoral campaign for the second round of elections can begin.
