The public administration reform bill remains under public debate. The bill that cuts jobs and bonuses in public administration is not on the agenda of Thursday's executive meeting and will not be adopted for the time being.
On the agenda is a bill, considered major, on Romania's participation as a guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the largest in the world. The government believes it will be a privileged gateway for Romanian literature. Also at Thursday's meeting, a legislative act is expected to be approved that transfers the Sibiu General Railway Hospital to the Local Council.
Reporter Andrei Serban: "The Sibiu General Railway Hospital will be transferred from the Ministry of Transport to the Sibiu Local Council. This transfer will maintain specific medical activities within an integrated system, leading to improved accessibility and diversification of medical services, increased quality of medical care, and ensuring optimal conditions for the organization and financing of medical activities.
The Sibiu Local Council has an obligation to continue investing in the rehabilitation, expansion, and modernization of this hospital. Also, the collective labor agreement at the hospital level must be taken over because, at the time of the transfer, there is no cause for its termination.
The meeting agenda also includes a memorandum on Romania's participation as a guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2028. This is the largest book fair in the world, and for Romanian literature, it is a strategic gateway not only to the German-speaking market but to the entire global publishing scene. The status of guest of honor gives a nation the privilege of being in the spotlight and involves managing a pavilion of approximately 1.500-2.000 square meters and a large-scale cultural program. For this reason, it is justified to set up a committee to coordinate a major project with complex logistical, financial, and institutional implications."
