A new 189-seat charter flight is being prepared on the Riyadh - Bucharest route, for people in Qatar, announced the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Tarnea.
So far, over 1.500 Romanians have managed to return to the country from the Middle East, after the outbreak of the conflict in Iran.
More than two-thirds of them were brought through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, and the others managed to leave on their own, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also specified.
Andrei Tarnea: At the moment, we have about 14.000 citizens under our attention. Of those who were initially brought to the attention of the MFA crisis unit, about 1.500 of our data returned to Romania, about 1.000 with means facilitated or made available by Romania, 500 -, about 500 through own means.
We still have about 400 priority people in the United Arab Emirates, so only in Dubai, and a little less in Abu Dhabi.
Priority cases remain in Qatar and other countries in the region, especially since the continuation of hostilities, the continuation of the situation there, also determines Romanian citizens who live or work in these countries to come to colleagues in embassies and consulates in the region, requesting various forms of support.
