Timisoara: Device that determines the amount of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies

A unique device in the west of the country, which determines the amount of neutralized SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, now works at the "Victor Babes" Infectious Diseases Hospital in Timisoara following a donation.
With the help of the automatic immunology analyzer it can be determined whether the plasma taken from a donor who had COVID-19 can be used for the treatment of hospitalized patients.
Until now, the covalescent plasma taken from the Blood Transfusion Center was sent to Bucharest to determine if it could be used or not, said Dr. Delia Dogaru.
The device is a high-performance one that can analyze 100 samples at the same time, and the result is obtained in 40 minutes.
The testing method has an accuracy of 97%.
