"There are currently 35 motorway and expressway lots under construction"

35 motorway and expressway lots are currently under construction, totalling 750 kilometres of expressway, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Saturday.
He was in Timis, in the area of the construction site for the almost 10-kilometre stretch between Margina and Holdea, the only missing section of the A1 Nadlac-Sibiu.
The section is nicknamed the "Bear Motorway" because it has tunnels to provide passageways for wild animals.
Work, which was halted in 2017, resumed this spring with a Romanian contractor winning the tender. Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu expressed confidence that the contractor will successfully complete the project.
Sorin Grindeanu: We have a constructor who has completed the design phase. It has entered the execution phase. The deadline, as you know, given in the NRRP, is the end of 2026. I believe that this deadline will be brought forward. Under no circumstances will this deadline be exceeded.
The value of the contract is 1.82 billion lei excluding VAT and financing is provided by European funds.
