A meeting of the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue has started at 12 noon. Trade union representatives met with employers' representatives and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to discuss the first fiscal package aimed at reducing the budget deficit.
The unions also met with the prime minister yesterday, but no consensus was reached, and the leaders of the confederations told the prime minister that the fiscal measures only affect employees and pensioners.
“We drew the prime minister's attention to the fact that, under the current circumstances, without a uniform distribution of the belt-tightening effort, we will have major problems because there will be open social conflicts. The measures are only being implemented for workers and pensioners”, said Bogdan Hossu, president of Cartel ALFA.
The head of the executive promised the trade unionists that their proposals would be analyzed and, if appropriate, would not be ignored.
