The Neptun Deep project is going ahead after the Bucharest court rejected a request by the non-governmental foundation Greenpeace to block it. Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja welcomed the court's decision in a post on a social networking site and said the NGO must now pay 80.000 lei to developers Romgaz and OMV Petrom.
In his opinion, the ruling once again confirms that such actions against Romania's strategic projects are either unfounded or inadmissible. Sebastian Burduja points out that these lawsuits cost time, money and major opportunities for national development and security. We recall that Greenpeace has asked the court to block the Neptun Deep project on the grounds that it raises serious environmental protection and compliance issues.
