On Monday, new rules on sick leave payments will come into force, according to which the first day of sick leave will no longer be paid.
The measure will apply until the end of 2027 and is part of a package of measures to reduce budgetary expenditure in the healthcare system.
According to specialists in the field, the change will have a direct impact on employees, who will automatically lose a day's income, and will create bureaucratic difficulties for employers.
Therefore, starting February 1, the state will cover the cost of sick leave for common illnesses, starting with the seventh day, and the employer will pay for days 2-6.
The authorities argue that the measure is intended to limit abuse in the granting of sick leave and reduce pressure on the health budget, which has been affected by the large number of certificates issued without medical justification.
