Romania "will continue to strongly support the Republic of Moldova in the EU accession process"

RADIO ROMANIA NEWS (6 February) - Producer: Laurentiu Vaduva - Romania will continue to strongly support the Republic of Moldova in the process of accession to the European Union - said today Foreign Minister Luminita Obobescu, after talks in Bucharest with the head of diplomacy in Chisinau, Mihai Popsoi. On the agenda of the talks were, in addition to Moldova's European integration, security issues and energy interconnection.
Reporter: Petruta Obrejan - Romania will continue to support the efforts of the Chisinau authorities to keep Moldova high on the European Union's agenda, Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu said today, adding that joint projects will also be continued.
Luminita Odobescu: I reiterated the importance of securing the European future of the Republic of Moldova through our joint action and strengthening, coordinating the efforts of Bucharest and Chisinau so that the accession process is sustainable and durable. Romania will continue to firmly support Chisinau throughout this process. We have also sent a strong message of encouragement. Moldova's reform efforts are visible and appreciated. The authorities in Chisinau have shown courage and political will to tackle reforms directly in some of the key areas for integration into the European Union.
Reporter: The last two years have been a great challenge but also a great opportunity for the Republic of Moldova, said Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi, to positively transform itself on the path of European integration. He said that Bucharest and Chisinau would maintain an active link.
Mihai Popsoi: Now, in this context, I have been assured once again that Romania will continue to give us priority, comprehensive and solid support in projects aimed at strengthening energy security, developing infrastructure, advancing along the path of European integration, as well as developing institutional capacities for the effective implementation of reforms in the Republic of Moldova.
