Romania's admission to the Visa Waiver Programme is a national strategic objective, and our country is getting closer to meeting the technical criteria in this regard - informs the government. The executive recalls that in order to lower the refusal rate below the 3% threshold, the support of all Romanians who hold or have held B1/B2, business and tourist visas for the United States, is needed.

Its renewal in the next six months can ensure our success, the government says in a Facebook post. A meeting on the issue was held at the Victoria Palace on Thursday, attended by Romanian and US officials. Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacsu, the head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Mihai Ghigiu, and the national coordinator for the Visa Waiver Program, State Counsellor Valentin Vatajelu, met at the Victoria Palace with Rena Bitter, Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs at the US Department of State.
