Florin Manole: I am the Minister of Labor, not of Layoffs

Labor Minister Florin Manole said during a trip to Arad that the reduction in budget spending in the ministry he leads will be achieved “through administrative reorganization and efficiency, not through layoffs.”
“We are not firing anyone. I am the Minister of Labor, not of layoffs”, he said.
He explained that the system is already undersized, with a shortage of personnel in institutions such as pension funds or labor inspectorates.
Minister Manole drew attention to the fact that all counties in Romania have requested additional staff in social assistance.
According to Minister Manole, the requests target approximately 2.500 positions nationwide, which shows the pressure on the system. “We cannot ask for more people and deliver less people”, he said.
