Romania complains about Wizz Air to the European Aviation Safety Agency

Articol de Radiojurnal, 06 August 2023, 03:44

The Romanian authorities notified the European Union Agency for Aviation Safety in relation to the issue of flights operated by the Wizz Air company in Romania, given that nine flights were cancelled in one day, for technical reasons.

The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, Bogdan Mandrescu, wrote on Facebook that he urgently asked the management of Wizz Air for a plan of concrete measures to reduce the number of flights canceled for technical reasons and to ensure the consistency of air flights, as well as to solve the staff problem, working over the allowed time limit.

If serious deficiencies are found, the maximum sanction may be the suspension or revocation of air operator certificates, so that Wizz Air will no longer be able to operate until the deficiencies are remedied, the representative of the Ministry of Transport also stated, who, however, mentions that this case is unlikely.

Consumer Protection also notified the European Authority for Passenger Rights in relation to the situations generated in Romania by Wizz Air, by canceling or postponing numerous flights.
