It is officially a new record of infections with coronavirus in Romania.

According to the Strategic Communication Group, 2.158 cases were reported, but the number of deaths and hospitalizations is lower than the previous day.

Mihaela Dragomir read the latest data and comes with details: "Most new illnesses were registered in Bucharest - 405, Iasi - 83, and Ilfov - 77.

33 deaths were also announced today, of which 31 had comorbidities.

In health units, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 exceeds 7.400, and 550 are admitted to Intensive Care Units.

The figures also show that 10.677 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 7.348 in institutionalized isolation; also, 22.986 Romanians are in quarantine at home, and in institutionalized quarantine 28 people.

Professor Alexandru Rafila, a member of the World Health Organization Executive Committee, believes that Romania is in the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

In his opinion, the same thing is happening in many countries in the European Union and that this week we could have 2.000 cases of infections per day.

To date, 127.572 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Romania, and over 100.000 patients have recovered.

To date, 4.825 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV 2 infection have died."
