Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan met on Thursday at the Victoria Palace with the mayors of communes, in the context in which the second fiscal package, which should be adopted at the end of this month, also refers to the reform of local administration.
The president of the Association of Communes in Romania, Emil Draghici, stated that the two-hour discussion with the head of government ended in failure.
Discontent regarding the financing of personal assistants for people with disabilities
He criticized the lack of balance during the meeting, specifying that there are measures designed at central level that create problems for local budgets.
Emil Draghici: When I say maintaining a balance, we have the expenses for personal assistants for people with disabilities that we all pay, all administrative-territorial units in Romania. This expense must be taken entirely from the state budget, but there is laziness at the level of the Ministry of Public Finance, otherwise I can't explain it. If 1.000 lei is to be given, why should we each give it instead of it being centralized? It is a disguised form of enslavement, of embezzlement of local budgets.
