For the fifth day in a row there are protests in Bucharest against the sovereignist candidate Calin Georgescu, who managed to get the most votes in the first round of the presidential elections, almost 23% of the total.
Protesters, mainly young people, gathered in the center of the capital, at the University, in an unauthorized demonstration, reproaching Georgescu for his anti-European, legionary and fascist-inspired speech and his pro-Russian statements.
A protest demonstration is also taking place in Arad, but it is authorized.
According to Radio Romania News correspondent Ion Suciu, people say they are in the streets to support democracy and European values and to oppose extremism, at a time when populists and extremists are using citizens' problems to gain ground in politics.
