Protests by several trade unions in Victoriei Square

Several hundred trade unionists gathered again on Tuesday in Victoriei Square.
They are employees from various fields of activity — from CFR, local police, and ROMSILVA — who requested a meeting with government officials.
They are dissatisfied with the austerity measures, which are leading to staff reductions and bonus cuts.
The ROMSILVA union members also want the draft decision abolishing the county forestry departments to be withdrawn.
They are also affected by what they call "a campaign to discredit the agency and its employees", RRA reporter Alex Buzica learned from union leader Valentin Nastasescu.
Valentin Nastasescu: Our frustration is with the smear campaign against us, started by NGOs 7-8 years ago, 10 years ago, and now continued by the government - members of the government, even at the highest level. It discredits ROMSILVA and discredits its employees. Those much-touted bonuses were also given to those who served the party.
How does this affect employees?
Valentin Nastasescu: If they implement this reduction ordinance, it is clear that salaries and incomes will be affected - /through/ the reduction of other bonuses that we have.
