Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan analyzed all these aspects at this morning's meeting with NBR Governor Mugur Isarescu, and local elected officials are holding consultations in an attempt to formulate a common position on the new budget. Petruta Obrejan tells us what figures the draft budget is based on.
Reporter: The 2026 budget will be one of investment, assures Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare, saying that over €10 billion from the NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) will go to this area of investment, as well as another €10 billion from cohesion and agriculture funds.
According to him, the forecast Gross Domestic Product will be around 2.045 billion lei, and the deficit target for this year is around 6%, which is still under discussion, while economic growth could be around 1%.
This year's budget will be based on the previous year's budget execution by the ministries, the finance minister added, noting that no assumption of an increase in the standard VAT rate or for the hospitality industry has been taken into account for this year.
On the other hand, after last week's discussions with all ministries and the five deputy prime ministers on the future budget bill, following its analysis within the coalition, the main coordinates of the bill were analyzed today by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan with the governor of the National Bank, Mugur Isarescu.
The budget bill is expected to be adopted in the second half of February.
