Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is scheduled to hold discussions with mayors and heads of county councils about local public administration reform, a topic that is causing tensions in the governing coalition.
The head of the executive would like a 40% reduction in total positions, while the Social Democrats support a 10% reduction in expenditures in city halls and county councils, which would avoid layoffs.
On the other hand, today's coalition meeting also discussed, for four hours, maintaining the price cap on basic foods.
According to political sources, quoted by reporter Petruta Obrejan, the Social Democrats want this mechanism to be extended, the PSD position also being supported by the UDMR leadership.
In this context, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan asked the coalition partners for a respite until next week so that the document presented by the interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, on the topic of capping can be analyzed.
