President Nicusor Dan says he does not regret appointing Ilie Bolojan as prime minister, but says he would have acted differently in the case of some of the measures taken by the government that affected the population. He made these clarifications in a broadcast on Antena3 CNN, where he also stated that his main priority now is to ensure that the government is stable and the coalition works.
Nicusor Dan: It is a correction and to be very honest, the fact that we have an inflation rate that will go towards 10% means that people will be able to buy 10% less and that is important. It must be said that there was not much alternative to this issue, that is, ignoring the deficit would have made the financial markets no longer want to lend to Romania and that inflation would have been even higher.
These measures affected many people in Romania. We need to think about each of them. I would have done some measures differently. It was necessary to take some measures in a short time. Overall, they were necessary, because otherwise it would have been even worse, meaning inflation would have been even higher than it is now. You can see the end of the tunnel, which is the end of 2026. We will finally stabilize the deficit.
