President Nicusor Dan is in Berlin on his first official visit to Germany

President Nicusor Dan was officially welcomed at Bellevue Palace in Berlin by his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The Romanian delegation also includes Minister of National Defense Ionut Mosteanu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu, Minister of Economy Radu Miruta, Deputy Prime Minister Dragos Anastasiu, as well as presidential advisers Luminita Odobescu and Radu Burnete, alongside the mayor of Timisoara, Dominic Fritz.
At around 4 p.m. Romanian time, President Nicusor Dan met with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the discussions were followed by joint press statements.
The talks in Berlin with German officials focus on developing Romanian-German cooperation, with an emphasis on the economic dimension and investments in sectors such as defense, energy, and industry.
Germany is currently Romania's largest trading partner and most important foreign investor, as well as an ally that contributes significantly to ensuring European security.
The number of Romanians living and working in Germany is over 900.000, the largest minority in Germany originating from a European Union member state.
