Mayors of communes and small towns go on indefinite general strike starting Friday, dissatisfied with the measures prepared by the Bolojan government to reduce the budget deficit. According to the Union of City Hall Employees, the 25% reduction in local administration staff, after previous reductions, will paralyze the activity of institutions that already operate with limited human resources.
At the same time, the obligation to cover the salaries of the 60.000 personal assistants of people with disabilities puts additional pressure on local budgets, generating an imbalance in the payment of salaries. The unionists also accuse the governors of "political purges", warning that administrative legality and the interests of communities risk being seriously affected.
