Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu says that every responsible person wants a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and expresses his hope that, despite the harsh political rhetoric of recent days, the efforts to end the war will succeed.

In a Facebook post, he also says that Romanian companies should play an important role in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Marcel Ciolacu: For me, and I think for the majority of Romanians, it is not the harsh, momentary declarations of world leaders that are important, but the final goal - a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, and peace can only be achieved with the help of Romania's strategic partner, the United States of America. Peace will bring lower energy and gas prices, plus economic recovery across Europe. It is vital then to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine. This is a project worth over €500 billion, from which Romanian companies must gain as much as possible.
