Local and parliamentary elections: Polls open at 07.00

Nearly 19 million Romanians are expected to vote on Sunday in the European parliamentary and local elections, in about 20.000 polling stations in the country and abroad.

Voting starts at 7:00 and ends at 22:00. From the time polling stations open until they close, the sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited within 500 metres of the polling station.

In addition, according to the Central Electoral Office, on Saturday and Sunday, the organisers of events of any kind and participants in them may not carry out electoral propaganda.

In this election, 494 candidacies for the European Parliament and 207.000 candidates for mayors, local and county councillors were registered.
