Klaus Iohannis: Romania needs more university graduates

Romania needs more university graduates, President Klaus Iohannis said at the opening ceremony of the academic year at the National University of Music in Bucharest.

The Head of State explained to the students that sustainable economic development can only become a reality through the contribution of as many well-trained citizens as possible, who put their creativity to good use.

Klaus Iohannis: I encourage you to continue to contribute to the modernization of Romanian higher education, including by taking on best practice models from international universities. Any learning space must be one of mutual trust, respect and openness to knowledge. It is my conviction that the student years should not only be those of training professional skills, but also those in which a civic model is shaped, based on solidarity, recognition of merit and performance, and encouragement of them.

In most of the major centers of higher education in Romania, including military institutions, celebrations were held today to open the new academic year.
