Romanian firefighters on mission in Greece were deployed to strategic points in the Nea Makri area, in the southeast of the country, where the risk of forest fires is high.
The crews will be able to ensure a quick and efficient response in the event of an outbreak, informs the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
On Tuesday, a communication demonstration took place between the teams in the field and the command structures, as well as a patrol mission that included a simulation exercise of intervention in dry vegetation fires, on rugged terrain, to adapt to the specific conditions of the area to which they were assigned.
Until September 15, 40 Romanian firefighters, with eight technical means, are participating in the joint European civil protection efforts in support of the Greek authorities, alongside intervention teams from Austria, the Czech Republic, France, the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria.
